Returned with our son and he gave his stamp of approval on authenticity of Japanese dishes.
Felt like I walked into a modern, more spacious izakaya- with the bar out front as I walked in and was met with Tortoro greeting customers. Loved it and hoped the food would be reasonably good.
Indeed, food surpassed my expectations. The Unagi hotpot was delicious, I had to keep from drooling over it. Smelt and tasted so good.
Hubby ordered kaki katsu set menu - with 3 beautifully fried oysters and bowl of rice, miso soup, rolled omelette, mushrooms and pickles. Everything tasted absolutely delicious. Service was courteous and with a smile.
Drinks were great. We enjoyed lychee cocktail & Okinawa highball.
All in all a great experience of yummy Japanese food after a very long while. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Bookings are highly recommended, we got lucky with walking in. They had one table that was not reserved so we got it.
The food was excellent quality, I really enjoyed my katsu. The meat was more fatty than what I'm used to but was still delicious. I love it when the katsu is served with a little wasabi and a salt on the side. The condemnets were a good selection of savoury and sour to help cut through the katsu.
The omurice was nicely done, good helping of rice with egg. The sauce was well balanced and kept your appetite.
The restaurant has plenty of seating and space so you don't feel cramped. Staff were nice and served us quickly.
I enjoy my meal and experience at Ichi Katsu and will mostly return for another meal.
Potato salad was nice and refreshing, great for summer day. Pork was delicious along with it's sauce.
Staff were very polite. It was great dining experience overall.
super lovely little japanese restaurant. highly recommend to book as we were lucky to get a seat walk in. the food was sensational. the curry was delicious and we also the katsu ni. the wagyu don was also quite good, would only say it wasnt served that warm. the drinks were all delicious, as well as the desserts. would love to come back and try different dishes!
One of the good Japanese restaurant near by Glen. But personally it is not authentic Japanese style and bit pricey.
Katsu is very thick and dry meat not tender at all, but overall it was good, quality of food is high standard with fresh veggies.
Lunch special menu is much more variety than dinner menu. I wish there are more choice of menus are available for dinner as well.
Will definitely be back!
Nice, cozy ambience. The spicy salmon ceviche was excellent. The beef tataki salad melted in the mouth. Everything else was mediocre. Oysters were fresh. School prawns are definitely avoidable. Cocktails were decent
Will try again
The place is really nice and beautiful. Some foods was good but others I felt was pricey for what you get. Everything came out looking really pretty, you could tell they put a lot of work into it. The Cheese Katsu was a let down and the Mayura Truffle Steak but I really enjoyed the Agedashi Tofu, the Takowasa (octopus salad) & my favourite was the Spicy Salmon Yukke.
This Japanese katsu fell short of authenticity, especially with the unexpected bechamel sauce in the Ebi Katsu. The oily coating made the dish heavy, and the tonkatsu was disappointingly dry. Additionally, the fries carried a strong "oil aroma." The high price didn't justify the overall experience, leaving it below the expected hype.
